Australian surfing legend and two-time world champion Damien ‘Dooma’ Hardman (Aus), 46, narrowly defeated three-time world champion Tom Curren (USA), 48, in the Grand Champions Final of the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012 today.

Hardman Claims Back to Back Wins with a Twin Fin Victory

Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa:In an epic clash of the icons two-time world champion Damien Hardman (Aus), 46, defeated 1999 world champion Mark Occhilupo (Aus), 46, in the twin-fin final of the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012. After a back-and-forth duel, ‘Dooma’ used the shifting conditions to lock in a heat high 7.83 under Occhilupo’s priority and outpoint the 2011 champion 15.26 to 12.77.


Twin fin division on hold: Next call noon today

Tropicsurf organizers have placed the Twin Fin division of the Four Season Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012 on hold for this morning.

Second Lay Day in paradise: Competition to resume tomorrow

Friday August 31, 2012: Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa: A second, consecutive lay-day has been called for the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012 today, allowing the five world champions to enjoy the five-star resort facilities and also put in some extra practice time in the head high, but wind affected waves of Sultans Point.

Wednesday August 29, 2012: Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa: In an, ‘80s flashback, legendary surfers Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo (Aus), Tom Curren (USA), Damien ‘Dooma’ Hardman (Aus) and Martin ‘Pottz’ Potter (GB) relived their historic rivalries with the same intensity on the first day of the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy 2012. Rounding out the ensemble cast is 2007 ASP Longboard champion Phil Rajzman (Brz).
