Tahitian powermonger Michel Bourez stole the show on the final day of the 2025 Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy, winning the thruster division and the grand final back-to-back, despite tearing his hamstring in yesterday’s twin fin division. Fearing that his campaign was over, Bourez received a hefty dose of medical treatment overnight before adrenaline powered him through four heats in pumping waves today. Standing tall in the event’s only perfect 10, in the last minute of the grand final, capped off the French Olympian’s 24-hour rollercoaster in remarkable fashion.

Following a run of delightful down days in paradise, the second round of the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy unrolled in thoroughly pleasant head-high runners at Sultans this morning, twin fin shredding the order of the day.

The 2025 Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy launched at the silky-smooth break of Sultans today, with the single fin division first to take the stage. After last night’s opening ceremony at Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa set the tone for the week ahead, officials had no hesitation in greenlighting competition this morning. At day’s end it was Australian Hall of Famer Owen Wright who claimed the event’s first win, beating Tahitian Michel Bourez in a closely fought final.

Maldives, August 27, 2025 – The 2025 Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy is supercharged with the announcement that surfing powerhouses Owen Wright and Michel Bourez, along with Maldivian wildcard Ismail “Smiley” Rasheed, will be paddling out at Sultans from September 4 to 11, 2025 to battle for bragging rights and USD 25,000 in prize money. They join an already stellar field featuring former Championship Tour standout Jesse Mendes, free-surfing icon Craig Anderson, and rising star Sierra Kerr — creating one of the most diverse and exciting line-ups in the event’s history.
